A young writer in the Homework Help program won a Super Bowl themed party for all his friends at Whitefield Commons' Community Resource Center. Machineforce (his screen name) posted the story below to his electronic journal as part of our after-school writing initiative. While enjoying Broncos and Panthers cakes, his fellow classmates definitely thought Machineforce was their MVP!
DIARY oF A Wimpy SCHOOL
Max had the wimpiest and unhappiest 4 years of his life in Weirdville, Texas, because the people at the school were really weird. But he also was really weird and smart. That's why he hated Jackson High School. One day the school turned haunted and the lights went out and they thought they were lost. Then Max started to do these cool goofy magic shows. Then the next day he said, "I'm going to try and make a spell to fix the school." The first spell went so wrong, which made the school more haunted. Then he said, "Let's keep trying." The 50th spell worked. And the school wasn’t haunted. But the only thing was that the people were still weird. Then he found a spell that made the kids smarter and not weird. And since he was so intellectual, he became team captain of the Lions football team, which gave them the best play to win their games. So the people and the school became better. And they had the best school in Texas. So they got a prize which was a better, cool principal.
