Volunteer Opportunities with Wesley Housing
 
Arlington County
Whitefield Commons Community Resource Center, Ballston
  • Food distribution volunteers to pick up the food from the Food Bank in Lorton and to assist with distributing the food to Whitefield Commons and Knightsbridge families. The distribution is held every week on Tuesday. We are looking for volunteers with trucks, SUVs or other large vehicles to pick up the food from the warehouse in Lorton.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) adult computer instructors to teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced computer classes. The classes meet once a week for six weeks from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday nights.
 
City of Manassas

Quarry Station Seniors Apartments, Manassas

  • Panera Bread Pick-Up. Provide free bread and pastries to residents of Quarry Station by picking up bins and bags of food at the Eldon Street Panera Bread and transporting them to the apartment community. Tuesday Evenings. 8:55 PM. Delivery takes approximately 50 minutes. You must be able to lift heavy bins of bread and provide a vehicle large enough to transport 5 large bins. Residents will assist with unloading at the community.

Coppermine Place II, Reston

  • Panera Bread Pick-Up. Provide free bread and pastries to residents of Coppermine Place by picking up bins and bags of food at the Eldon Street Panera Bread and transporting them to the apartment community.   • Adult computer instructors to assist with beginning, intermediate, and advanced computer classes. The classes meet once a week for six weeks from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday nights.
  • Adult English for Speakers of Other Languages tutors to assist newcomers with learning English. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Tutors for the After School Program. Mondays, 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Tuesday – Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Middle School/Teen tutors. Mondays and Thursdays, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
 

Wexford Manor Community Resource Center, Falls Church

  • A female volunteer or intern to facilitate the Girl Power program on Monday afternoons, 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Girl Power is a drug prevention and self-esteem building program for adolescent females.
  • Tutors for the After School and Middle School Programs, Mondays, 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Tuesday–Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Reading and math tutors to work one-on-one with students working below grade level.
  • Adult computer instructors to assist with teaching beginning, intermediate, and advanced computer classes. The classes meet once a week for six weeks on Thursdays, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Adult English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) tutors to assist newcomers with learning English. Classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
