Position Summary
Wesley Housing Development Corporation is seeking a part-time (20 hours/week) Resident Services Coordinator for a residential community for disabled persons living with HIV/AIDS. The Coordinator is responsible for providing social service referrals and crisis intervention. The Coordinator will also plan and implement educational and social programs relevant to this population. Evening and weekend hours are required. BA and experience required. Knowledge, Skills, and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, rehabilitation counseling or related field; MSW preferable.
- 3-5 years relevant experience.
- Experience planning and implementing services in a housing environment preferred.
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
Duties
- Assess supportive service needs of individual residents.
- Develop service plans in collaboration with the residents.
- Offer information/referral to residents of services and programs available.
- Provide crisis intervention.
- Maintain confidential records regarding individual services provided.
- Assist new residents in the transition to a new apartment, i.e. providing information about local services, transportation, and shopping.
- Empower the residents to meet their own needs through education, training, and accessing services for themselves.
- Promote a positive social climate that fosters residents’ psychosocial well-being by developing, implementing, and monitoring educational, recreational, and therapeutic programs for resident participation.
- Create and distribute newsletters and calendars.
- Coordinate resident and community volunteers to assist in implementation of activities.
- Facilitate monthly Resident Council meetings to discuss residents’ concerns or ideas for programming.
- Manage a budget for services
- Participate in community meetings and networking events.
- Serve as liaison between Agape House and Wesley Housing.
- Attend and contribute to Agape Board meetings.
- Assist Manager of Supportive Services in program development and evaluation.
- Report to Manager of Supportive Services monthly planned activities, services provided, participation rates, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
