Position Summary:

The position of Volunteer Tutor supports Wesley Housing’s educational program for elementary school students. The After School program is designed to help students achieve academic success. This position reports to the Community Resource Center Director.

Volunteer position requires a commitment of 2-15 hours per week, for each week that school is in session. 2011-2012 school year.

Salary: Unpaid.

Qualified Candidates:
Eligible candidates for the Volunteer Tutor position include senior high school students, college students, and adults over 21 years of age with negative TB test results. A criminal history record check will be required.

Duties:

• works with assigned elementary students to provide assistance in one or more academic subjects;
• assists a student to develop a better understanding of in-class and homework assignments;
• provides positive feedback on the student’s progress and encourages the student’s continued focus on academic excellence.
