Wesley Agape House • Fairfax County, VA 1999

Description: Agape House (the House) is a lovely new construction project with 12 private one- and two-bedroom apartments and a common lounge area. The goal of the Agape House is to provide an accessible, physically amenable house in which to live, as well as coordinated supportive services so that persons can cope with and manage their disease, while also participating in all other activities of daily living.

Amenities: The House provides a supportive, comfortable environment, where residents are able to focus on optimizing their health. Independent living at the House is facilitated by a Supportive Housing Coordinator who works on site, linking residents with supportive services, providing counseling, and planning educational and recreational activities. Trained volunteers assist the Coordinator in carrying out the activities, and a Resident Council provides feedback to the Coordinator and management. Educational programs are offered to residents by HIV/AIDS service organizations, including: the Northern Virginia AIDS Ministry, local health departments, Hospice of Northern Virginia, INOVA HIV Services, and Food and Friends. Programs also include the recreational offerings of the Fairfax County Park Authority, the Fairfax County Department of Recreation, and the services of the library.
